Tech giant Google celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8th 2018 by turning on a feminist feature on its Business Maps search results.
If you’re searching for a woman ran by a woman, you no longer have to guess, or call. If the business has turned on this feature on their Google Maps Listing, you can find them easily. Yes Google will not highlight the business automatically, but it’s up to the business owner to access their Google My Business dashboard to highlight the gender.
Close to 12 million U.S . based businesses are owned by women, generating over $1.5 trillion in revenue and boasting a 110% growth over 20 year period.
Follow these simple steps if you’re interested in profiling your business as a woman-owned business:
- Go to your Google My Business dashboard
- Click on the info tab on the left hand navigation bar
- Scroll down to “add attributes”
- Click on the edit icon
- Select the women-led attribute and you’re all set
